It is worth noting that Gavin de Becker, the intellectual godfather in the world of prediction and management of violence, author of "The Gift of Fear" the most widely read self-defense book in the world-- that Oprah Winfrey said was the most important books she ever read, consultant to three presidents, celebrities, governmental agencies,etc. wrote the Foreward to this book.
The primary goal of this book is to equip women the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will allow them to prevail in a violent physical encounter. Many readers will be surprised to learn that the authors emphasize use of the mind-"mind power" as much as physical techniques. All women will be excited to know that this book also serves as a method to get in optimal physical and mental shape. Actually, Christensen and Place have written a book on personal transformation.

I bought this book last week and had the chance to read it over the weekend. To the authors I say; Well done! To everyone else I highly recommend it. It offers valuable insight from the beginning and throughout. At page 25 it occurred to me, "This book will save lives!" I am no stranger to violence, I grew up in it, was surrounded by it through half of my adult life. What I'm trying to say is, I know what works-and this will. The techniques presented are simple, easy to learn and effective! I have hundreds of books on martial arts and self defense and this is one of the best I've ever seen.
